Focus Training (SW) Ltd is recognised for its efforts in continuous quality improvement by Investors in People and the Information, Advice and Guidance Matrix award.
Focus Training is committed to providing the best possible service to its clients. Continuous quality assurance measures are in place, staff are thoroughly trained in their respective fields of operation, professional staff development is ongoing and thorough internal verification is a priority.
The main source of business for Focus Training is via funding through its contract with the Skills Funding Agency to provide work based vocational training for Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships of all ages.
The occupational areas covered are Retail, Hospitality, Cleaning Support Services, Team Leading, Management, Customer Service, Business Administration and Distribution, Logistics and Warehousing.
Training delivery and assessment is within the workplace with Assessors visiting on a regular basis.
Focus also offers certificated one day CIEH Level 2 Health and Safety and CIEH Food Safety (Basic Food Hygiene) courses delivered on our premises or in the workplace.
The company also delivers STEPS and Breakthrough personal development programmes providing the tools to help achieve maximum personal potential. It challenges negative and unproductive self-ideology creating the ability to deal with difficult or unfamiliar situations. It has a wide range of applications and has been particularly effective as part of a redundancy package, getting people into employment and as a managing change device.
Collaboration with other providers is proving to be beneficial for learners, employers and staff alike. To that end Focus Training is proud to be associated with, The University College of St Mark & St John Open Learning Centre (IT courses), Competitive Edge (Sales and Telesales) and Venus Training Consultancy (Health & Social Care, Advice & Guidance and Learning development).
Focus is also heavily involved in the Devon and Cornwall Training Providers Network, the senior partner is currently chair.
Plymouth has been given the go ahead to set up a National Skills Academy for Retail skills shop in the city. Focus is pleased to be part of this venture which was put together by Plymouth Employment and Skills Board (ESB), with partners City College, Working Links and Enterprise Plymouth.
The bid was approved by Skillsmart Retail, the Sector Skills Council for Retail, which aims to improve skills, training and opportunities in the retail sector.
The virtual retail skills shop will enable partners to offer accredited programmes to retail students, trainees and employees across the city. The partnership will also be able to run Mary Portas master classes, which cover every aspect of setting up and running a successful independent retail business.
