Latest figures show there are over four million people employed in Management in the UK. A career in Management can lead to a variety of opportunities across a broad range of sectors and job roles. Depending on the focus of your job, you might learn other skills like how to allocate and check other people’s work; plan and implement change; manage a project or budget; encourage innovation; carry out operational plans; recruit staff; or develop customer service skills.

This Level 3 qualification accredits first line managers or supervisors. Many types of businesses have benefitted from this Management qualification from food retailers to pet suppliers, high street fashion outlets to off-licences.

For this qualification, four mandatory units must be completed:

  • Unit 1 – Manage your own resources
  • Unit 2 – Provide leadership in your area of responsibility
  • Unit 3 – Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of responsibility
  • Unit 4 – Ensure Health and Safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility

Along with three units selected from the following themes:

  • Work with others
  • Planning and implementing change
  • Recruitment of staff
  • Develop working relationships
  • Manage a budget and/or project
  • Provide learning opportunities for colleagues

This Level 5 qualification accredits middle to senior managers with operational responsibilities or may also have a degree of responsibility for the organisation.

For this qualification, four mandatory units must be completed:

  • Unit 1 - Devlop and evaluate operational plans for own area of responsibility
  • Unit 2 – Provide leadership and direction for own area of responsibilitiy
  • Unit 3 – Plan change in own area of responsibility
  • Unit 4 – Work productively with colleagues and stakeholders

Competence Element

NVQ Level 3 in Management

NVQ Diploma in Management (Level 5)

Technical Element

Technical Certificate will be one from the following Level 3:

  • Introductory Certificate/Award in Management
  • Certificate/Award in First Line Management
  • BTEC Award in Introducing Management

 Technical Certificate will be 5 or 6 assignments of 2500 words in the following themes:

  • Principles of management and leadership
  • Personal development
  • Leadership within your organisation
  • Managing staff performance
  • Developing business teams
  • Managing quality
  • Mangement of change
  • Managing Projects
  • Managing Budgets
