Malaysian Students take over Marjon Kitchen!!!

Michelle Pointer, Senior Training Consultant at Focus Training (SW) Ltd. went to the University College St. Mark and St. John to deliver CIEH Level 2 Food Safety in Catering to ten Malaysian students.

She delivered the training to these students so that they are able to use the kitchen facilities and cook at Marjon. Marjon now have around 80 people that could be attracted to the kitchens. Michelle said that “It was good to discuss different foods and see that HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and how it is used worldwide.”  She added “There were some language barriers but they were overcome as the group would explain words or info in their own language to each other to help each other out.”

All the students recognised the Food Safety qualification and now know it’s a good qualification to have and will all put it on their CV. Having this qualification allows the students to access the kitchen and comply with the food safety standards - as well as learning they all enjoyed the course very much!
